I have an '84 Mazda B2000 pickup. Its having problems staying running, and lugs and surges when I stop and try to take off. But once I hit a higher RPM it takes off and runs smooth. Possibly fuel filter, fuel lines, carburator??? I dont know. What do U think??? & thanx for ur help...

Ryan, This could be caused by several things. "Typically" with a bad fuel pump, clogged lines or filter, you wouldn't get up to higher RPM's (at least not smoothly) because it'd be starving the enging. I'd be more willing to say it's in the carb or ignition (timing, vacuum advance, or plugs). Also, vacuum lines and emmisions equipment is a likely suspect. IMO a carb kit should be regular maintenance every few years on older vehicles. When in doubt, it's hard to go wrong with a full tuneup... | | Poor Taste?

Like everyone else told me, you most likely have a hole/crack in your vacum lines. Best way to tell is to open the hood, and spay some starting fluid towards the hoses. IF the engine revs, you have a crack. This is dangerous and probably not how the mazda dealership would fix it, but it's a lot faster! | | Poor Taste?

I have the same truck, same problem. my mechanic told me the U Joint was shitty on the model and needed replaced. starts and stops because it is worn out in certain spots and the truck jumps when it hits the spot, and lunges. usually happens in 1st and 2nd gear, smoothing out in 3rd. fucking piece of shite, not worth replacing, just buy a new truck.
