    To become a Taoist priest you must first find a Taoist Master who is willing to accept you as an initiate. AFter training and testing he may offer discipleship. Only when he is sure of your heart, your destiny and that you have the bones of an immortal should he invite you to the priesthood.
    If you are sincere, read everything you can on taoism, get every issue of The Empty Vessel. Study CHinese medicine. I would recommend studying oneof the 3 internal martial arts with a real teacher who knows how to apply them to real fighting. Then wait,,,, when the time is right, a teacher will appear.

In order to become a real Taoist Priest recognized by the China Taoist Association located at the Baiyun Guan (White Cloud Monastery) in Beijing you must go through many levels of training. You must also be initiated under a certified Taoist Priest who is also registered with the China Taoist Association.

There are no recognized Americans as Taoist Priests. You would have to know Chinese fluently and learn all the doctrines and study under a real Daoshi (priest). Those who claim to be Daoshi who are white Americans are just claiming that for fame or fortune and have not really gone through the traditional training.
