I don’t know how many miles you have on the clutch you have
now. Sometimes, a clutch might need replacement
after only 5,000 miles. If you get a
clutch through the dealership, could you get them to agree to do something
about the transmission, if the problem is not solved after the installation of
the clutch, and perhaps reduce the cost for you in some way? I don’t see why they would tell you something
that might be completely wrong. You will
certainly know when a new clutch is installed, if they were correct in their
assessment. Did they put the car on a
scope to test the transmission? Did they
drive the car? Is your Hyundai under
warranty for the transmission at this point?
If, after a clutch is installed, the problem is at least not as severe,
you might want to trade the car in, or sell it.
Transmissions, when replaced, don’t seem to last over time, and they are
very expensive. What I would recommend
is taking it to another Hyundai dealer.
Sometimes, you can find a whole other experience by simply shopping
around. Also, you could take it to a
repair shop, if you know of a good one, just for another opinion.
