Why is Firefly so awesome? JA Cambece JA Cambece Law Office

Firefly’s are soft bodied beetles. In the USA they are also referred to as
Lightning Bugs. Their little black bodies have yellow or orange marks on
them. Below the main portion of their
bodies are little glands that light up at night, in little bursts of color. Female firefly’s do not have wings. They can be found in the long moist summer
grass; and they flash their lights at night to attract males. This glowing spot on the lawn created by the
females is how they got the name glowworms. Young fireflies feed on the nectar from
flowers, and some insects, but research suggests that the adult firefly does
not eat. This is one reason why they
only live for about two months. They
fly slowly, don’t bite or pinch anyone who catches one, and they are quite
harmless. Scientists say that you can
find fireflies in many countries but in the United States they are only found
in the east and Midwest, never in the Western States. Unfortunately for firefly’s, frogs love to
eat them.
