I don’t dream very often, but last week I had a dream that
my entire family was finally gathered around our kitchen table to catch up on
all the news and reconnect. It was a
vivid dream, and every conversation I had with my sister, brother, mom and dad,
felt right. It was as if I finally told
them all the things that I had wanted to share with them for years. Funny, how life separates us by miles, but
thanks to programs on the internet, we are able to connect with some
regularity. Apparently, though, I must
be feeling the need, lately, to really see and speak with them; to inhabit the
same space with them for awhile, as I did when I was a child, and we were
constantly together. Sometimes it’s
good to pause, and reflect on the simple joys of life that we take for granted;
or did when we were young, and the days ahead outnumbered the days that are
behind us. Not having much free time to
think about the things that matter to me; my subconscious must have done the
work for me, and yet I remember this
dream vividly, and am grateful for it.
