There is so much pressure on kids to be thin and wear what
is in. When my daughter was finishing
high school three years ago, she was sharing her entire wardrobe with all of
her friends. There was so much pressure
to never be seen in the same outfit twice, so they all pooled their
clothes. It seems that t shirts and
jeans are still in, but girls are wearing some short skirts too, and the little
shirts in the baby doll style, remind me of the 1970’s hippie look. The new look for shoes are the gladiator
sandals, which are really just a bunch of straps but at least these shoes are
flat. The high heels that girls love
are four inches high. Girls are still
wearing Capri pants and knee length shorts.
Guys still wear jeans and tee shirts, and hoodie sweatshirts are big
with both guys and girls. Sun dresses
are popular with girls and so are lots of bracelets and dangling earrings. Jackets for girls end at the hip or above it,
and guys like the usual jean jacket or cotton wind breaker jacket. For guys, Bermuda shorts are in with tee
shirts that have every kind of graphic you can imagine. Athletic shoes are big for girls and guys,
and they come in every color. Actually,
for the 21st Century, the clothing is fairly conservative.
