What kind of dentistry do you need? have you been diagnosed. If its cosmetic work, prices will vary widely due to many factors, such as the education that dr has regarding cosmetic dentistry, the amount of experience, the lab they use, the lab technician at the lab that makes their crowns, veneers etc and the amount of one on one time you get. You are better off getting the work done right the first time because their can be many complications down the road depending on the procedure. Financing is always an option. Try some of the local dental schools sometimes they have interns work on you at a discounted price.

I think that all of these contributors make excellent points. It may be a little tough to get Cosmetic Dental work done at a local Dental School, because they tend to focus on pathology and "needs-based" Dental Care rather than elective procedures like cosmetic dentistry. The same is true for having the procedure covered by dental insurance. Most insurance companies do not cover elective procedures at all. Two things you could ask your local cosmetic dentist: "What kind of financing do you offer?" Many offices offer 0% APR financing through carecredit or capitalone, or something similar, or they may offer extended term financing with low minimum monthly payments through those same companies. The second thing you could ask your dentist is: "Do you offer discounts for payment up-front, or senior discounts, or referral rebates?" Very often, Cosmetic Dentists work independent of dental insurance, so they have some freedom to be a little bit flexible on pricing. For instance, if you can reduce their billing costs by paying in full up front, then they can often reduce their fee by 3 to 5%. For patients who are over 55 years old, some offices offer a 5% courtesy discount. Also, you may be able to negotiate a referral discount. For instance, if you wanted Laser Whitening, you could offer to bring, say, 3 friends in for the same procedure, for full price, in exchange for you getting Laser Whitening for half off. (Usually your friends would have to come in first, then you could come in after their checks clear, lol). Additionally, independent cosmetic dental offices usually have some kind of promo or special deal or cyber-coupon, which rotates monthly. For instance, they may have a special cyber-coupon for "Spring into Summer Whitening" or something similar. Be open and honest with your Cosmetic Dentist, and tell them what you would like, e.g.: Invisalign or Lumineers, and ask them to please call you when that particular monthly special for the procedure that you are interested in rolls around. |
