You can say that the Democratic Party is liberal, and that it has always has been that way.  It might be considered a compliment, (I think it is) because the Democrats have always been for the minorities, the aged ,labor, and for a strong federal government that regulates business and industry,  while supporting programs that aid disadvantaged people.  The majority of Democrats also understand the unique place that America has always held in the world.  They know that as a united country, we work with the United Nations, in order to solve problems with foreign governments.  Instead of making lists of evil-does and labeling anyone who disagrees as a dissident, Democrats believe in communication, and arbitration, wherever possible.   They also believe in pay as you go, not debt first, thought later.
