I would like to recommend a few Children's books for adults to read'
Beatrix Potter's Tale of Johnny Town Mouse, for a before sleep treat.
Her stories are hilarious,& the pictures are too priceless for words.
She has beeeeyooootiful,Victorian pin up girl cats,in their Sunday best, her riddles about electricity, have double entendre in our family.
The Hitty Pitty riddle about electricity, seems to bring out a lecherous streak,in our family's male population with much leering & eyebrow wriggling, trust me,Hitty Pitty within the wall,Hitty pitty without the wall,& if you touch Hitty Pitty,Hitty Pitty will bite you!
This was the cheeky song the lazy, impudent rascal, Squirrel Nutkin
sang to a grumpy old owl,who bit the forward rodent's tail right off!
There's a kitten caught by two old rats,&ALMOST made into a roly poly pudding, with sooty smuts,is also hilariously funny.
As for adult books, who can read the late Sir Peter Ustinov's book The Old Man & Mr Smith without getting sore ribs?
Imagine a snarky, pencil tapping, hotel concierge, when who should book in but God & the Devil!Satan goes out & steals luggage to appease the snooty hotel front desk set.
Next God annoys the FBI by making his own money! He & Satan can also vanish into thin air when the CIA
& thunderously thick government psychiatrists & inept intelligence
agencies,annoy them!It is a clever & extremely funny book.
I also heartily suggest buying the complete works of Beatrix Potter.
