Article VI
from what I have seen and heard, is a very timely subject and must be addressed
by us all. Former President Jimmy Carter
recently wrote a book about how the current administration has allowed
democracy to be diluted by allowing religion and politics to not only mix, but
to become enjoined. We need to realize that
a person’s faith based beliefs are private, and their politics should be based
on fact, sound reason, tolerance, and the Constitution. If we hold “all truths to be self-evident”,
and consider that” all men are created equal”, that is basis enough to run our
government in the best possible way. As
a species we need to address the critical needs of the impoverished and we who
have the greatest abundance should share, and teach the less fortunate how to
have hope and take care of themselves.
This way there could be no hate, envy and violence. It is only when we judge others, and become
afraid of ideologies that we do not understand, that we foster the kind of
violence that is so prevalent today.
Terrorists learn to hate because they have no hope. We must show them that there is a way to
love, and to have all that a person needs for a good life. If we get bogged down in prejudice, and label
those we do not understand as worthless, what chance do we have to survive?
