Do you use a recumbent bicycle and do you like it?
|
We like to bike and we have trails near our home; and also have
a small downtown atmosphere where we can ride pretty unencumbered. We ride with our children and our friends,
and plan to go to activities at least once a week that are close enough to bike
to, and back again before dark. Our
neighbor got a recumbent bike. He hated
it at first because his feet kept slipping off the pedals, and going uphill was
a big strain on his legs and back. After
a few days he got some kind of clips for his feet, and now he has no problems
peddling. He said that getting used to
the steering being behind him was challenging.
Now, he always beats us to wherever we are going, and he is never as
tired or winded as we are. He also
laughs at our backaches and muscle cramps, and is really rubbing it in, that we
are too conservative to ride that kind of bike.
Maybe it’s a head game, but I can’t go there. Give me my regular ride, and move over.
