I still pick up a book with a Canadian backdrop with some hesitation. This is the second book by Mary Lawson that I have read with equal satisfaction. It serves to remind me that reagrdless of the setting or the time.... ordinary lives are exceeding extraordinary and the heros are unpredictable as are the anti-heros. Set during the second worl war in northern Ontario, it is a timeless story of sibling rivalry and helps us redefine how love can unwind and rewind our future. It is a snapshot of wartime for those that were left behind and a pitcure of those that returned... never the same. It is a story of a boy's search to find his place. Loved it!
