These are chic clothing and a specific music genre that began in 1977. The classic year of punk was 1977 and so anything generated from the experiences of that year is termed, "classy." This kind of rock music (classy punk rock) was played with precision and all the instruments skillfully played. If you listened to this music, you wouldn't hear the loud crashing noises that today's rock music displayed. Your mother would listen to it and it was easy on the ears.
