There is no agreed upon general definition of art. Some say that art is in the “eye of the
beholder”. If that theory holds true
then, anything that can be seen by the eye, is art. My favorite definition is that any skill
which has been created by time spent in study, practice and observation, such
as culinary art, or photography, is truly art.
If you expand on that definition and say that art is a conscious
arrangement of color, sound, movements and other elements, then you give a
space to art forms like ballet, movie making, acting, and recitation of
original work. It seems to me that to
define art is to intellectualize yourself into a stupor because the definition
could be reworked, redefined and restated ad infinitum.
