On a vegetarian diet, how do I know how much protein to allocate per meal?
|
Over two grams of protein may be too much and can cause stress to the kidneys. The two major protein sources are plant or vegetable foods. There are two types of vegetarians. They are Lacto vegetarians and "vegans". Lacto vegetarians eat high biological animal protein that includes eggs and dairy products. Vegans, on the other hand, eat a more limited diet and often must take amino acids supplements to make up. If you are vegan, you can eat cereals, nuts, seeds, grains and legumes, but you don't have to eat these all in one meal. However, you should eat most of these throughout the course of your day to ensure that you get enough protein in your diet. | | Poor Taste?
