Breeding is very difficult for French Bulldogs.  Due to the size of a pups head, the mother usually has to have a caesarian-section operation, or the pups will not survive.  Also, when you find a “stud” male, he is usually not able to perform in such a way as to impregnate the female.  Often a vet has to artificially inseminate the female, for her to become pregnant.  Often French Bulldogs have some serious health problems, and it takes an enormous amount of knowledge to breed pups that will be healthy.  These dogs have breathing problems caused by the shape of their faces.  Often French Bulldogs are born with a cleft pallet, that has to be repaired, and they are prone to rare blood disorders.  If you want to get a healthy pup, always have it veterinarian checked before you purchase it.
