The "automated" system appears to have finite times, that the tester remains in contact with the site, and the same goes for the "manual" checker that appears with each entry!
Are you sure the system reads the same URL as the ACTUAL URL which the site-code appears on? (I am sure that Tripod, WebTv, or Angelcities/angelfire/bravenet have adverts - think that could have bearing on the question?)

I suppose you have done the check, outlined in my FAQ, to reveal the "Ring Code URL(optional):" ? It is desirable in getting the URL right? Members do not "get" the Ring Code URL right, I have to change it 95% if the time, (exception being, if they place the site-code in the homepage, 20%!)

Yup.  I check and recheck their information, even going so far as to enter it in myself.  I get right to their page and click CHECK manually each time, look at their ring and still... nada.

It's enormously frustrating.

Same here - I have 1 ring out of the 5 or 6 I own that 4 sites show up not responding and that's all it says on the "error" Doesn't respond.  However, all 4 of the sites have the proper code. All the links work on all 4 of the rings - and one of the sites not responding is one of my own!!!  Now you KNOW I have the correct code on that!

Can we please get this fixed??  I just site checked all my rings today, so we know there's been nothing done yet and I ran into the problem on Jan 5 when I last site-checked.  Nearly 2 months - nothing.  And now it seems people with new rings aren't able to move new members from queue to members.  Looks like a snowball effect to me.

 

I'm a fairly new ring owner, with only one ring, which has only a few members.  All the member sites passed before I moved them from the queue, but 2 of them have been returning "does not respond" for a few days now.  Both are fine when checked manually, neither have had any change to the code since they were added to the ring.  One is my own, so I know it ha not changed.

I had also thought that it might be a problem with linking to the host site, but myine is on my own site hosted by supanames.co.uk and hte other one is a blogger blog.

Any suggestions as to how to deal with this would be very welcome.

I am having this problem too. It is especially frustrating, about half of the new members get "Do Not Respond" even though their info and links are correct.
