Today, unfortunately, people are having to give up their dogs when they lose their homes to foreclosures.   Others give them up because they are not compatible with the family when a new baby arrives or because the owner has to work a lot and the dog is left alone all day and is miserable. Whatever the reason, my family got a great dog this way, she is house broken, loving, and did not cost a fortune to own.
