I went to the link, but could not find the poem.  Maybe you will post it here at some point.  I can’t imagine why any pet owner would tire of the pet, and then leave it all alone.  There are so many rescue places to take your dog, if you will not or cannot care for it any longer.  People are losing their homes, and cannot afford to keep their pets, but most of them are not abandoning the animal to an uncertain fate.   On craigslist.com or kijiji.com you can post about an animal that needs a home at no cost to yourself.  Immediately there are always pet lovers who will contact you.   We got both of our pets this way, and they are priceless to our family.
