Shopping for maternity wear in the 1980’s was often a
nightmare. The tops were big and poorly
shaped, and the pants had huge panels cut out in the front and stretchy material
covered the stomach area. These clothes
were not attractive, and they were often uncomfortable. The good news is that many 80’s fashions
will still work for you, even in your current, lovely, condition. For instance,
BIG HOOP earrings were in then, as they are now. Bangle bracelets in every color were worn on
ONE ARM, and stacked up, as many as a six or eight of them; and these bracelets
are in again. The baby-doll t-shirt tops
that are in now, were in then and one of them might just work as a top for you,
right now. Scrunchee socks or tube socks,
pushed down a little bit, were big, and you can find those anywhere. The young women of the 80’s wore their hair
in pony tails with scrunchee colorful hair ties twisted around the rubber bands,
to hide them. You can find these scrunches
at the drug store or dollar store. Look
at the dollar store for the bracelets too.
IF YOU DON’T WANT to try the babydoll T shirts, remember that THE BIG
LOOK from the movie “Flash Dance” was the big sweatshirt stretched down off one
shoulder. You could make that look work
for you.Acid washed jeans were in then too, but I don't know if they are available in maternity wear now. Still you could look at Target in the maternity section, just to see if any of those jeans would work, too.
