You need to take care of yourself and the baby. If you live with emotional and physical
abuse, the baby is suffering too. There
are agencies that help women that are in your situation. You need to find out who can help you. One thing you can do is look in your phone
directory to see if there is a Women’s Resource Center in your area. What they do is help you find work, support
and care for your unborn child, and then, when you are able, they teach you the
skills to get and keep a job. There are
women’s shelters too, that are established to help. Local Red Cross agencies also have lists of
places that are willing to assist unwed mothers. You are not trapped; you just need to get
some help. Often, church groups give
assistance, and Women’s clinics know who can help you. Are you seeing an OBGYN to check on your baby’s
health? You could talk your situation
over with your doctor, and ask for referrals to places that can get you through
this difficult time. Right now, think
about your baby and yourself. After you
get established, and have a place to be safe, then you can decide about what
you want to do in this relationship. No
person ever deserves to be treated badly, no matter what the problems are, or
how tough it is to make a living.
