They screen these people when they apply for the show, so if they were convicted felons, we would know.   I thought that David did nothing illegal and I also thought that he can really sing.  If he was just trying to make a living, and the work that he did, or any of the contestants, was not against the law, or hurt anyone, is that the issue here?  I thought that this show was about discovering talent.  It seems like they want to control how these people look, act, what music they sing and their appearance.  It’s a lot to ask of a human being who has never received formal training and has a gift, but probably is not sure how to use it.   It seems to me that the mean comments, and the music they are forced to sing like Beatle Songs, when maybe their voice is more comfortable singing country, doesn’t seem quite fair.  How many professional singers do you know who can sing just about every kind of song?
