Yes, senior citizen clubs in the U.S. and U.K. and even in Canada
are underfunded. Sadly, all areas of
support for seniors are grossly underfunded.
When you consider that most seniors age 65 and older, are still living
independently, in their own homes, or rented housing, or are living with their
adult children; they have not put a huge burden on their local, state, or the
federal government at this point.
However, as the baby-boomers retire now, and because people are living
longer; it is only a matter of time before we all face serious problems. The facilities for people, who need some
assisted living, are not easy to find, because there simply are not enough of
them. The nursing homes, for people with
urgent care needs, are extremely expensive and provide unsatisfactory
care. Seniors do need clubs for socialization,
and they need transportation to medical facilities, housing, and a system of
long term care that will be funded adequately.
When do they need all of these amenities of an aging society….YESTERDAY!!!!
