There are thousands of music genres today.  Musicians are always angry to be put in these types of categories based on musical sound.  To identify these genres you could find one hundred sites on the net that list them.  To give an example of how many sub-categories there are contained in each category, look at how Christian Music is listed:  Christian, Christian Punk, Christian Country, Christian Rock and Pop, Christian Rap and Hip Hop, and Christian Worship.  This is just one genre.  Also on this list, you would find Latin, Latin Free Style, Latin Jazz and Latin Pop.  The list goes on indefinitely, and it seems as if this is a case of “Over-Classification” to me.  Here is just one site that has a long list of genres:http://dir.yahoo.com/entertainment/music/genres/complete_list/.
