what kinds of fashions were there in the 60\\\'s.
|
Sixties fashion was all about mini skirts and flat boots
that reached up to the knee. Dresses were tent shaped and had cut away places
at the shoulder, showing off the arm and shoulder blade. Women were thin like “Twiggy”, and very young
women were the trend setters instead of the 20-something models of the fifties.
Color was bright in the 60’s and black and white combinations of color were
very popular too. Geometric prints hung in every closet. Skinny pants and boat neck tee shirts were
popular too. Big sun glasses, preferably
white, were on every face, and the little black dress for evening was something
you just had to have. Makeup included
very soft blush colors and pale lipsticks, along with large false eyelashes and
black mascara. In the mid-60’s the in
colors were lime green, electric blue, bright orange and yellow, and they called
this style trend MOD. Vidal Sassoon gave
people short blunt cut hair styles.. Women wore headbands and little
bows. Bikini bathing suits were becoming popular for the first time. Then the
country went to war in Viet Nam and the “Hippie” look took over for women and
men. Frayed jeans and peace sign tee shirts were
everywhere. Tie-dyed shirts and granny glasses and wearing army fatigue clothes
was the new “in” for teens. These were
turbulent times and fashion was a mirror of the “make love not war” generation.
