Have you ever seen or read about the Mystic Art Center in Connecticut.  We went to an Art Exhibit there in April and the work was just beautiful.  They had a contest with a $200 prize and anyone was eligible to enter.  You could present sculpture or any original work up to about 72 inches tall and weighing not more than 100 pounds.  They also has a written word art show, during our visit, and it was supposed  to be any form of art work, except photography, that depicted the written word as a series of sounds that present a meaning.  It was an amazing exhibition, and the artists were very talented.  The link to this site is : http://www.mystic-art.org/Exhibitions_Home.htm.  Notice that they are located in Mystic, Connecticut.  They are having there 97th Fine Arts show from May through July, if you happen to be in that area.  This may not be the type of Mystic Art that you were referring to, but it does present art of every kind to everyone.
