In the sixties children wore fluorescent colors. Anything with smiley faces, and flowers on it, was a hit with little
girls. The boys wore anything surfer,
bright colors, and peace signs. Slicker
rain coats and plastic shoes were a huge fad with girls and guys wore leather jackets
and stove pipe jeans, just like the teens were wearing. Teen girls were wearing mini skirts and tee
shirts with tie-dye designs; their jeans were frayed and looked like they had
seen better days. Daisies were the flower and showed up on everything. Shoes were platforms or anything with a round
toe look. Anything metallic was in. Both guys and girls wore suede vests and
fringe on everything. Headbands worn
around the forehead, were so trendy and they kept the long straight hair that guys and girls wore, out of their faces. The
sunglasses were huge, and white was the in color. Adults wore a more conservative look. Some say that Jackie Kennedy inspired the
adult fashions for the women, and John F. Kennedy and his brothers did the same
thing for men. Women wore A-line,
sleeveless dresses and little hats, with simple jewelry and low heeled
shoes. Classic suits in black, and white
or pale colors, were in for women. Men
wore basic suits and slacks with white shirts and ties that were not too thin
and not too wide. Lapels were also, not
too big,nor too small. For the adults it
was a time of conservatism.
