If you want to sell your home today, it is a good idea to stage it.  To make an impression, and to draw the buyers in, so that they imagine themselves and their possessions, in the space; you need to have no clutter and no personal items out where they can be seen.   Selling your home, empty, is more difficult because the people have a problem imaging themselves actually living in this big, empty space.  What you want is a few appropriate pieces of furniture in each space to define its potential, and identify its strong points.  For instance, in the living room, you might want to place a sofa and two comfortable chairs facing the focal point of the room.  It could be a fireplace, or a great view out the windows, but there needs to be a point of interest.  You could hang a beautiful mirror on the wall and place a table underneath, to create a focal point.  All of the rooms should appear to have good light, space and some function.  If you don’t know how to arrange your possessions and want help; businesses that do the staging or styling for you, are a great investment.
