I taught at a public school in Cologne. In most classes there were Muslims, male and female. And yes, of course they smiled! I remember 1 girl who brightened up the mood of the whole class, mine included. Inka B. |
Muslims believe that women’s beauty is not to be seen. We may not understand it, but we must not sit
in judgment of the beliefs of others, in my humble opinion. Information and education about Muslims and
their traditions is seriously lacking in our country and probably many other
countries. Some people may say in our
defense, that we don’t have an opportunity, in our daily life, to set aside an amount of
time to study someone else’s culture and belief system. Perhaps, when you consider that a great
number of our population is Muslim, it is time for us to come together, as
citizens, and discover what we have in common.
It is too easy to criticize what we do not understand. Why not do a little homework and try to
celebrate our differences. We were all
put on earth for a reason, and we are all different looking, but inside we
still love, hate, fear, blame, work, pray, feel and need. I think that our common human characteristics
are enough to help us reach out in friendship to each other.
