Mormon beliefs

Hi! That's a very large question for someone to give a brief answer to. However, here is a small synopsis. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (nicknamed "Mormons") believe in God the Eternal Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. Mormons believe that God speaks to his people on earth through prophets, such as Abraham and Moses in ancient times. Mormons believe God still speaks to his children on earth. God is not dead, and He has given the world modern-day prophets. The words of prophets that have been compiled into books are called scripture. Mormons revere the words of the prophets written in the Holy Bible, and also revere additional books of scripture, such as the Book of Mormon (hence nickname), which are writings of prophets who lived in the ancient American continent. They believe that the authority to act in the name of Jesus Christ (Priesthood) was lost from the earth, but restored again in the 1800s through a chosen prophet named Joseph Smith. Mormon's believe that the most important unit of society is the family. Marriage and family can last eternally, not just for this life only. They love their children and invest their time and energy building strong marriages and homes. Mormons are NOT polygamists. The practice of polygamy was brief and ended over 150 years ago. Mormons are NOT cult-like, nor stay closed away from the world. There are amazing Mormons on every continent of the earth.
