More and more people are turning to Gastric bypass surgery,
which is also known as RNY surgery, to help them get their lives back under
control after years of living with the health risk of being obese. Complications from this surgery can be life
altering as well. There are no long
term studies yet, to give a person a strong over-view of the risks. People are getting malnutrition after this
surgery. It isn’t the surgeons fault,
and it isn’t the patient’s fault that the absorption of necessary vitamins and
minerals and proteins no longer occurs, so that the patient loses weight. Along with this problem, there seems to be a
growth of bacteria in the stomach and that can lead to stomach pain. If you eat sugary foods, and too much sugar
goes into the bloodstream all at once, you can get “dumping syndrome” where the
blood glucose level drops quickly, and it is possible to pass out. These and other complications can be very
serious, even if people establish healthy eating patterns and take vitamins and
minerals. However, being obese is definitely
a threat to your health. Diabetes, heart
attacks and strokes are a given if you don’t loose weight.
