To own your own barbershop you must be licensed by the State that you live in.  You need to have permits and hire licensed personnel.  Your shop must have many specialized pieces of equipment such as an FDA approved sterilizer to clean all metal equipment.   There are many regulations to follow, and the State will inspect your business frequently to make sure that you follow very strict guidelines.  If you rent a space in a building in which to place your business, it must have at least three sinks, adequate lighting, and electrical outlets for your equipment.   Location is critical and you must have an advertising budget that allows you to make your business and its location known to the public.  There are many websites that have general information, but it would be best to contact your government agencies, in your area, to see if there are any small business loans available.  They can give you an idea of what you will need to do to make your dream happen.
