I am not suppose to share this with anyone but we
don't personally know each other so I guess it would be ok. I have a
group of friends and one of them has a problem. She's not my closest
friend in the group but I really want to help her. Early this month,
she found out that her uncle is sexually abusing her 13-year-old
sister. They are living with their grandmother because they don't have
parents anymore. I've known his uncle when we visit their house
sometimes and he acts nice and seems to be a really nice person
especially with children. His uncle doesn't live there but stays there
for a night or two at times. He is the one who supports them including
their grandmother. They are scared to tell their grandmother about it
because they think she wouldn't believe them because she thinks their
uncle is a really nice guy and they support them. Now my friend and her
sister are planning to run away

and
go to another city where their aunt (not related to the uncle) lives
and tell her personally what happened and to be sure that their uncle
can't easily reach them and to make sure they ae safe. Another problem
now is they need money for their plane tickets and other expenses along
the way. No one knows this except for our group of friends. Our goal is
to acquire at least $500 but we have $200 already from selling some of
our things, we can't work because we're all in school and it's hard to
find a part-time job in our place. So they only need $300 now and
running out of time, we don't want anything unwanted to happen again.
Is there someone in the Internet we can ask for help? We don't want to
inform the police, they are useless and can be bribed. Please, please
if you know someone who can help email me immediately.

this
is not how the police works in our country. we would like to keep it as
confidential as possible. the police and gov't can't be relied on. they
plan to see their aunt first and take it from there so at least an
adult and family member can help them out on what to do.

The
aunt and uncle are NOT related, they are from different sides of the
family. That's why they want to see their aunt so she can help them,
the aunt is the adult they choose and trust to help them. My friend is
of legal age, too, but she's also too young to deal with the matter
herself that's why she needs to see and talk to her aunt. She is the
only one they think they can trust. After they see and talk to her they
will get help, I am just trying to help here by sharing this because
there might be someone who would read this and help us and not by
blaming and flaming me.

Whether they trust the police or not. The safest thing for them to do is to go to the authorities. They have specially trained people in law enforcement that know how to deal with situations like this. There are also counseling centers for abused children that they can contact. The worse thing that you or any of their friends can do is try to help them run away and give them money to do so. These are issues that are very serious in nature. And MUST be handled appropriately. | | Poor Taste?

We hope that your friend and her sister get out of this
terrible situation. We were talking to a
social worker at my daughter’s school about this post and your situation and
they said that we should say that it is extremely dangerous to travel around
the country unaccompanied by adults.
There are many people out there who take advantage of young people who
are traveling alone. Another plan of
action might be to tell the principal or a counselor at your school, all about
this situation. A teacher that you like
and trust would also help you, and your minister, too, would be in a position
to offer you protection, while they also would contact a relative or close
family member, who would come to you, and work the problem out with you. Adults do care, and we all know how much
abuse happens every day. The school
would contact the authorities, to make sure that your friend and her sister
would no longer be in harms way. Think
about it. This is a big problem to
handle by yourself.
