A living room reflects the personality of its owner. It is
cozy, comfortable area where the family, friends and relatives sit, relax and
entertain. Alongside, it also is representative of the style and aesthetics of
the family living in the house since this is the one place which receives and
seats visitors.
Here are few things to be kept in mind while decorating your
living room:
Decide
on a theme for your living room. It can be a contemporary theme or a
traditional one. If you are a person of modern tastes, do it up with
modern, sleekly designed furniture. If you prefer traditional or ethnic
décor, choose furniture that reflects the pristine styles and designs. You
can also pick up some interesting bric and brac, heirlooms, artifacts and
handicrafts etc. Some exotic themes can also be created by choosing
Egyptian or Moroccan…style furniture and décor.
When
painting your living room, go for neutral shades. Pastel shades like white
or beige make the room bright and beautiful. Lighter shads also allow you
more options while buying furniture.
Decide
upon the size of a sofa according to the size of your living room. First
find out the exact measurement of the living room and then buy a sofa and
other pieces of furniture like chairs and table which best fit your living
room.
Also
make sure to get the furniture that complements the color of the walls of
living room. Check out online stores in UK
which offer amazing range of furniture in various designs and styles.
Pick
up curtains which complement the sofa.
You
can place decorative plants in the corner of your living room. Plants
placed at the corners make the entire room look alive.
A living room is not only a reflection of your
personality but also an introduction of your home to the visitor. Remember
first impression is lasting one, if not the last one. So a special effort
should be made while decorating your living room. You can google: dugdeals.com

What I love about walking into a space is the focal
point!! My friends are all creative and
we laugh about how we decorate our spaces because they really do reflect your
personality and, of course, your quirkiness.
The focal point for some of my friends’ living rooms is the view. Several of them are able to draw attention to
the windows and the lush garden or streetscape beyond. This way the outside comes in, and the
furnishings are quiet compliments to the wonders of nature. My focal point, since I don’t have a view or
great architectural details like crown moldings, chair rails or a fireplace, is
my 100 year old jelly cupboard. It is a
charming piece of history from Harmony, Pennsylvania, and everyone falls in
love with its quaint and unassuming presence.
I avoid clutter, so the pieces on the four shelves inside its soft pine
interior, are all things that are meaningful to me, and touchable for my
guests. The antique French lantern
collection is beautiful but not fragile and the pottery, which has elements of “modern”
styling, is “hold-able”. A writing desk, two comfy traditional chairs
and a camel back loveseat, all in shades of beige or white, surround the
cupboard like a gentle hug. My furniture
sits on an angle, away from the walls and each piece compliments all of the
others, just like a circle of very good friends.
