I have recently taken
over three Netrings, despite ringsurf deciding to rely on their “Viewer.”
That results in the
sites being overlaid at the top by a “ringsurf viewer” comprising a sixth (of
the 640 pixel size of my screen,) which bears the “Join” “Next” and “Previous”
labels, instead of being reliant on the “Site-Code” (NavBar in other servers.)
That means that
“Site-Code” would be not required EXCEPT for
the “guest” joining the Ring to Surf… That means “site-codes” are simpler,
and always the same – even collectible from others in the same ring (a
procedure I DON’T recommend, however!)
However, there ARE
snags, however.
The ring would be commenced by the same
site, but thereafter by “randomising” the ring would be random OR start
from a different start site! The sites are described by “landing page,”
which is the first page you meet after leaving the last site. If it’s NOT
the home page (Preferred) you are bound to get problems UNLESS you have a
Direction, = “HOME.”If sites have “side panels” bearing the
“HOME” etc., they will NOT have the “home” on the landing page, as the
RingSurf will do he “actual page” NOT “pageS”! You should write “home” on
the actual page!MOST IMPORTANT – the ringsurf “viewer”
aborts if it meets “frames busting code!”
Which is rare, fortunately, but difficult to webmasters to tell!
IF the “frames busting code!” is active on your site, you will get a
Note from the Ringmaster saying that, even though your site is in the Queue,
and an excellent site, we can’t activate it!
